Commercial Lines Account Executive

Mission of the Role

To manage, retain, and grow a commercial lines book of business by delivering proactive, high-level service, identifying risk exposures, and generating consistent new business opportunities. This role is responsible for both protecting existing client relationships and driving revenue growth through new business production.

Desired Outcomes of this Role

1. Maintain a retention rate of 90%+ on assigned book of business

  • Proactively manage client relationships through regular communication
  • Conduct ongoing commercial account reviews to identify coverage gaps and risk exposures
  • Deliver strategic insurance guidance tailored to each client’s business operations
  • Execute effective account rounding and cross-selling of additional coverages
  • Re-market accounts when necessary following agency guidelines
  • Proactively reach out to lost or canceled business to win back accounts

2. Generate consistent new business premium month-to-month

  • Develop and maintain a steady pipeline of qualified commercial leads
  • Prospect through referrals, networking, and outbound efforts
  • Collaborate with internal teams to maximize lead opportunities
  • Quote, present, and close new business aligned with agency goals
  • Maintain strong closing ratios through a structured sales process

3. Grow revenue within existing accounts

  • Identify opportunities to increase coverage through endorsements and policy enhancements
  • Educate clients on risk management and additional coverage solutions
  • Target monoline accounts for account rounding opportunities
  • Build long-term relationships that drive account expansion

4. Conduct thorough account reviews

  • Complete assigned account reviews consistently and on schedule
  • Analyze policies for coverage gaps, exclusions, and cost efficiencies
  • Present recommendations that strengthen client protection and retention
  • Reduce remarketing by improving account structure and relationships

5. Execute the agency’s sales process with discipline

  • Respond quickly to inbound inquiries and opportunities
    Follow up consistently on quotes, prospects, and renewals
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the agency management system
  • Prequalify risks and ensure proper underwriting submission standards
  • Bind and finalize policies efficiently

6. Maintain a strong work ethic and team-first mindset

  • Demonstrate a positive, solutions-oriented attitude
  • Collaborate with team members to support overall agency growth
  • Continuously improve efficiency through technology and process improvements
  • Participate in agency initiatives, marketing efforts, and branding opportunities

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $65,000 – $85,000 (based on experience)
  • Commission: Uncapped earning potential based on production and growth

Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years of Commercial Lines insurance experience
  • Active Property & Casualty license (preferred or required based on state)
  • Proven ability to manage and grow a book of business
  • Strong sales, relationship-building, and communication skills
  • Ability to analyze risk and recommend appropriate coverage solutions
  • Highly organized with strong follow-through
